of the First meeting of the Working Group on Legal Matters of the delegations of the Government of the Slovak Republic and the Government of the Republic of Hungary on the implementation of the Judgement of the International Court of Justice

in the case concerning the Gabčíkovo - Nagymaros Project

 

1.    The delegation of the Slovak Republic, led by Mr. Drahoslav Štefánek, and the delegation of the Republic of Hungary, led by Dr. Marcel Szabó, held negotiations in Bratislava on 29   October 2001 on the issues concerning the mandate of the Working Group on Legal Matters.

 

2.    Both delegations have presented their views on the mandate of the Working Group and have decided to continue the consideration of these issues at the next meeting of the Working Group.

 

3.    The proposal of the Hungarian delegation on questions which should be on the program of the Working Group on Legal Matters was sent by Mr. László Székely, Head of the Hungarian governmental delegation on 24 September 2001 and is enclosed to these Minutes.

 

4.    The delegation of the Slovak Republic will transmit to the delegation of the Republic of Hungary its written position concerning the issues of the mandate before the next meeting of the Working Group.

 

5.    The Parties have agreed that the next meeting of the Working Group will be held in Budapest at the end of November. The exact date will be agreed upon by the Heads of delegations.
